1. Overview & Commitment to Privacy

Bachat Diary (accessible via bachatdiary.com and the Bachat Diary Android/iOS mobile application) is a daily expense tracker and ledger designed for Indian households and small businesses. We are deeply committed to respecting your digital privacy under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act, India) and global app store developer guidelines.

🛡️ We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal or financial data to third-party advertising brokers, loan providers, or telemarketers.

2. Information We Collect

• Account Authentication Details: Your mobile phone number and member name provided during account setup, used strictly to log you in and identify your profile within your household.
• Household Expense Records: Transaction amounts, expense titles (e.g., Milk, Groceries, Electricity, Office Chai), category tags, and timestamps entered by you.
• Device & Telemetry Information: Basic device type (e.g., Android version, browser agent) and session timestamps to diagnose software errors, maintain service reliability, and measure active usage (DAU/MAU).
• No Bank Credentials: We do NOT collect, access, or store your bank passwords, UPI PINs, ATM cards, or bank statements. All transactions in Bachat Diary are entered manually by users.

3. Purpose of Processing

We process data solely for the following explicit purposes:

• To authenticate your session and prevent unauthorized access to your ledger.
• To sync expenses between members of the same household or office ledger.
• To calculate totals, monthly analytics, and exportable reports (CSV, WhatsApp summaries).
• To monitor software performance and ensure high availability.

4. Data Security & Storage

All communications between your device and our servers are encrypted using industry-standard Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS). Server data is stored securely in encrypted databases with strict access controls. Administrative access to telemetry is gated by multi-factor passcodes.

5. Your Rights Under DPDP Act 2023 (Right to Erasure)

You hold full ownership of your data. You may at any time:

• Delete Your Account: Tap 'Reset Household & Start Fresh' inside the app settings to permanently wipe your household ledgers and member data.
• Export Your Data: Export your complete expense history to CSV / Excel format at any time.
• Request Data Purge: Contact our Data Grievance Officer at privacy@bachatdiary.com to request deletion of all associated server logs.

6. Regulatory Status (Exempt from RBI Lending Framework)

Bachat Diary is a pure digital calculation and bookkeeping utility. We do NOT provide credit, issue personal loans, collect deposits, or facilitate money transmission. As such, the platform operates outside of NBFC lending regulations.
